How to Replace the Capacitor on Your Active 2.3 Pressure Washer Pump
Is your Active 2.3 pressure washer not powering on? If the motor and GFCI plug are functioning properly, the issue might be a faulty capacitor. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the process of safely removing and replacing the capacitor on the Active 2.3 pressure washer pump.
Tools You’ll Need
- 13mm socket wrench
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Flathead screwdriver
- Wire cutting pliers
- Replacement capacitor
Step 1: Unmount the Active 2.3 Pressure Washer
- Unmount from Wall: Using a 13mm socket wrench, unmount the Active 2.3 from the wall mount cage.
- Place on a Flat Surface: Position the washer on its side, with the mounting side facing down.
- Support Motor & Remove Bolts: With one hand supporting the motor, use the socket wrench to remove the 4 bolts at the bottom of the cage. Keep bolts in a safe place for reinstallation.
- Remove from Cage: Carefully lift the pressure washer out of the steel cage and place it on a flat surface with a protective cloth. Ensure the electric box is facing up for easy access.
Step 2: Replacing the Capacitor
With your tools ready, follow these steps to replace the capacitor in your pressure washer:
- Using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the 3 screws on the circuit body. Keep them safely aside for reinstallation.
- Lift the cover off the electric circuit to access the internal wiring.
- Locate the wires connected to the capacitor and carefully disconnect them from the motor.
- Remove the capacitor and terminal from the electric box.
- Install the new capacitor by connecting the white and black wires with the blue wire slot as shown in your manual.
- Reconnect the capacitor to the motor wiring and tighten the connection securely.
- Place all wiring inside the casing and reattach the cover box.
- Securely fasten the screws to close the electric box.
Step 3: Remount the Pressure Washer
With the capacitor replaced, it’s time to remount your pressure washer:
- Position the 4 nuts and rubber feet as needed.
- Place the pressure washer back into the cage, aligning it with the 4 screw holes at the bottom.
- Hand-turn the bolts, applying pressure to ensure a connection between the bolts and nuts.
- Align the pump with the cage body as you hand-tighten the bolts.
- Once all bolts and nuts are connected, use the 13mm socket wrench to tighten the pressure washer to the cage. Ensure there’s enough resistance to prevent vibration during use.
