How to Troubleshoot and Fix Leaks in Your Active 2.3 Pressure Washer
Experiencing leaks in your Active 2.3 pressure washer can be frustrating. Thankfully, there are straightforward steps to identify and resolve these issues. This guide covers common leak points, troubleshooting tips, and accessory compatibility requirements to help maintain optimal performance.
Step 1: Check Hose Connections
Begin by inspecting the connection points, as leaks often occur here. Disconnect the garden hose and ensure it has the correct three-quarter inch standard adapter. Reconnect the hose, tightening it only by hand to prevent cross-threading.
Next, inspect the high-pressure hose. Disconnect it and examine the ends for any thread damage. If using an aftermarket hose, verify that it has an M22-14 mm connection. Hand-tighten the connection, ensuring threads align properly before tightening to avoid cross-threading.
Step 2: Examine for Damaged O-Rings and Defective Accessories
Leaking can also result from damaged O-rings or defective accessories. Disconnect the hose with the water off and inspect it for any signs of kinks or splits that might cause leakage. Kinks can restrict water flow, while splits can prevent proper function. A damaged hose cannot be repaired and will need replacement.
Step 3: Inspect the Nozzle
Leaking near the nozzle head may indicate debris in the spray tip. Remove and inspect the tip, then use the included cleaning needle to clear any obstructions. Reinsert the spray tip and test the unit. If the leak persists, try another spray tip.
Step 4: Check the Gun Valve and O-ring
If the spray tip orifice leaks when the trigger is not pressed, the gun valve may be damaged. Unfortunately, gun valve repairs are challenging and often unsuccessful, so replacing the gun may be necessary.
Ensure Accessory Compatibility
Using compatible accessories is crucial to avoid leaks and other performance issues. When purchasing aftermarket accessories, ensure:
- Pressure Hose: Steel braided rubber, no longer than 100 ft, with M22-14mm connections.
- Garden Hose: Standard GHA connection (three-quarter inch, 11.5 TPI) and no longer than 100 ft.
- Nozzle Orifice Size: Between 4.5 and 6.0; smaller sizes may draw more than 15A, potentially damaging the pressure washer.
- Gun and Wand: Matching threaded or quick connect compatibility with the hose and lance.
